M. Randall Levin, Advisor
Randy Levin is known as a visionary real estate corporate officer and entrepreneur with 30 years experience in strategic positioning, implementation of land and vertical developments, trade partnering, and its disposition and/or repositioning. While employed in various leadership positions, Mr. Levin liquidated, repositioned, and sold assets of three different companies through innovative techniques during the past five economic downturns.
Mr. Levin was the Vice President of Commercial Development for SunCor Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pinnacle West Corporation (NYSE:PNW), which as of May 2010 had consolidated assets of about $12 billion. At its peak, SunCor Development had consolidated assets of approximately $600 million. His affiliation with SunCor Development started in 1986, at the time of the company's formation. While at SunCor, Randy lead a team of 38 commercial real estate professionals overseeing design, finance, construction management, leasing, and marketing executives. He led design, development, construction and disposition of nearly three million square feet of office, retail, and industrial properties plus entitlements for another three million square feet, and contributed in sending over $400 million in dividends to Pinnacle West. In 2009, one of the worst recessions on record, Randy successfully negotiated and executed $170M of commercial real estate land and asset sales and conceived and closed a $33M precedent-setting right-of-way sale with the State of Arizona avoiding the expense and time of a condemnation process. In that same year, he enhanced land value on 235 industrial acres by obtaining a unique federal taxation program with the establishment of a Foreign Trade Zone.
Previously, Mr. Levin managed the design, development, construction, and leasing of nearly one and a half million square feet of primarily high bay, dock high industrial properties for Santa Fe Pacific Realty, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Santa Fe Southern Pacific. The development company transitioned into Catellus Development Company headquartered in San Francisco.
Before navigating his way into commercial real estate development, Mr. Levin was Director of Commercial Development Services for DMJM Architects & Engineers where he lead a team of architects and engineers, representing national developers in determining a property's highest and best use, orchestrating the entitlement process, and eventually overseeing design and construction.
Mr. Levin holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona. He is a licensed Architect and holds a Real Estate Broker's license in the state of Arizona. He is a Mentor for the candidates in the Master of Real Estate program at Arizona State University. He has chaired numerous civic and community boards such as the Enhances Services Commission for the City of Tempe and was a Founding Member for the Men's Anti-Violence Network. Mr. Levin has been a featured speaker at numerous industry and civic events including the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and has advised the cities of Phoenix, Goodyear, Scottsdale, and Tempe on their planning, development services, and economic development operations. His has a combined cumulative 60 years practicing architecture, real estate brokerage and commercial real estate development.
Mr. Levin is also the CEO and Managing Member for MRL Properties LLC, a commercial real estate asset holding company incorporated since 1995; and CEO and Managing Member for MRL Partners LLC, a commercial real estate syndication and investment company.
