Matt Reid, Advisor
Matt Reid is a distinguished leader and entrepreneur, with a depth and breadth of real estate development expertise across a multitude of product types. His career began in Chicago where he was the Vice President and Co-Owner of a commercial general contracting company for over 10 years. He moved to the Ryan Companies US Inc., where as the Vice President Development, Matt and his team were directly responsible for the successful development of more than 500 acres of business parks and 7,000,000 sf of office and industrial buildings. He also developed over 1,000,000 sf of retail projects as well as the Sears Center, a 280,000 sf sports and family entertainment arena.
In 2004 Matt’s considerable talents were sought by the Ryan Companies to establish a development presence and operations on the west coast. As the Corporate Vice President and Regional Head of the Ryan West Division, Matt provided overall leadership and direction for all Ryan services and functions for the West Coast. He has since successfully lead the effort in branding the organization as a significant factor in Southern California regional real estate development, design, construction, sales, leasing and property management services. Leading the Southern California effort with over 3 million square feet of entitlements and the development of various building types including multiple hotels, office buildings, and a 52 acre master planned mixed use and technology industrial center. Matt’s experience underscores his intimate understanding of the myriad of complicated challenges associated with land acquisition, entitlement, energy, and governmental processes necessary to develop and manage assets and buildings on the West Coast.
Matt is actively involved in numerous civic and industry organizations including his role as the 2010 Chapter President National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) San Diego, California. He is a member of the City of San Diego, Mayors Business Leaders Round Table. He is a member of Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) as well as Chair and Founder, NAIOP Community Involvement Committee.
